New Kid in Town

-Eowyn

So, one day you find yourself sitting on the couch of your living-room, with a troubling idea in your mind you can’t embrace totally yet, though it’s growing more and more with each passing day: is it really possible you have lived before? Are your odd dreams, visions, feelings or wild images you’ve seen in your mind while meditating anything else than just “visions”? Or are you losing your mind? Can you talk to someone about it without becoming the weirdo, the delusional, the insane one of your family or group of friends?
Even worse, maybe you have been raised in a religion where reincarnation is not only denied, but considered almost a sin, and if you mention it over lunch you may be accused of wanting to convert to Buddhism or something, when you’re only wondering about the “highly improbable” possibility of being remembering the life of… let’s say, another person, as you’ve heard about the collective unconscious and that seems plausible… weird, but plausible. But after gathering all your strength to say it, hoping someone will understand you, it turns out you feel silly, out of place, and they even laughed at you, as everybody knows that death is the end, and if it’s not, you sure will go to Heaven (or Hell) and stay there for eternity. So you blush, keep quiet, and decide to hide your old 1860’s Army Model Colt reproduction, your yellow-paged books in a foreign language you hope to decipher one day, your black and white photographs of real wooden wagons crossing the desert, and your ragged Confederate flag, in the darkest drawer of your bedroom. And if they ever find them, you’ll just smile and say you love old times when real men went to war and fought for a good cause.

However, you’ll keep waking up bathed in sweat after dreaming you were shot in the back by some soldiers wearing a grey uniform, feeling your heart beating fast, afraid you’ve been killed, and sad because you were too young to die. The dream is recurring and it gets clearer each day. Now you also see a woman wearing a long skirt with braids in her hair. You know her name and you miss her deeply. But you don’t know who she is. You need answers, you’re confused and you don’t know where to look.
One day when you’re alone at home you just can’t wait anymore and google “reincarnation”. And you’re surprised to find there’s indeed some stuff out there, but what kind of stuff? Someone you can relate to? At first you won’t care too much, you only need to feel you’re not alone. And you aren’t. Believe me, we all have been there. Soon you’ll find out there’s a lot of beliefs, theories, spiritual teachings and yes, real people claiming to be the reincarnation of Cleopatra out there… a few of them really. And soon you’ll realize you might become one of these crazy people if you don’t tread carefully on the world of reincarnation! After all, it’s alright to read books and scientific (boring) studies about birthmarks, or to join endless discussions about karmic debts, but what do you need really? What brought you to this search? Just memories… “supposed” memories… feelings, dreams… or whatever. Ok, you’re not crazy, but where to go now?
In my case, when I started my research on reincarnation, I was stunned. Fascinated, as everything I had believed in my life but never took too seriously, could indeed be true. I needed a few months to assimilate all the information I was reading. And undoubtedly every little story that I read was helpful, and I quickly wanted to share mine, as it was so incredible to find people who felt the same way I had. I wondered a lot about life and death, about what happens when we die, about the “marvelous” idea of coming back, or… not so marvelous? If you have come this far and you’ve found this site because some memories are affecting you, then something may be wrong with you. Because… you don’t understand how you can forgive yourself after an hour of past life therapy, you don’t believe crystals can balance your chakras and make your life bright and full of colours overnight, you’re discovering you were not the good person you thought you had been in all your… yeah, must have been your own past lives now… and committing suicide in your last life still makes you feel bad. For you reincarnation just sucks, because you’re back but the world is not the same, you miss deeply your old country and everyone who was there with you. You know reincarnation is real but it looks like a cruel joke, not “a path of everlasting growing and learning of your soul”.
Well, no worries there. There are as many ways to live reincarnation as persons in the world. Just keep in mind you’re not alone, because it seems the only certain fact is that reincarnation happens, and it happens to everyone, no matter if you are good or evil, Muslim or Orthodox Christian, black or white, young or old. No definite answers yet, just your own answers. Don’t be afraid to share your feelings or views, we’re all in the same path, we’ve all asked the same questions, some theories we believe, some we don’t, but it’s very possible we’ve shared part of our lives somewhere, sometime, and you don’t want to lose the opportunity to meet old comrades who remember the same things you remember, who love the same things you love, who were killed by your side, who know how it felt to fight and lose, or to fight and win.
After all, it’s memories all we have, all we can share, all we have to deal with. Memories are what brought you here, and what make you feel melancholic, angry or just different to most people your age. Yes, you have lived before. And now you’re here trying to live again. Like it or not, we all are back. When I’m dead and living with spirits, I’ll worry about the spiritual world. Now I’m here walking on a damned planet called Earth, past life stuff is still haunting me and I need people to talk to. Only the ones who remember know you’re not crazy and will help you with your past life burden, whatever that burden is... if any.
So, let’s talk.
